This link has a nice Isoelectric point calculator amongst other things...thus my students should find it useful.

Baeyer-Villiger oxidation
Here is a nice link for a reaction we'll learn about that IS NOT covered in Smith's Organic Chemistry (except for Problem 14.54 on page 533).

Organic structure I am looking for
Well, since we don't have SciFinder , I cannot do a very great search for this compound...does anyone out there (including my Orgo students) know of any references to this compound? If so, please let me know.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Sarcasm-and if read properly, good advice on what not to do when writing a paper
Okay, so I was searching what other Organic Chem bloggers were writing about this morning and I came across this pearl on "Carbon-Based Curiosities" (http://www.coronene.com/blog/).
For my Organic students (and future Organic lab students) please pay attention to make sure you don't end up obeying every rule Prof. Murray cites. Oh, here is the link to the original editorial as well:

Open Access Journals
Curly Arrow has a neat little discussion about the PLoS journals here: http://curlyarrow.blogspot.com/search/label/Science%20Ethics
And here is a nice link to about 90 open-access chemistry journals (most are from Europe or Asia).
http://www.doaj.org/doaj?func=subject&cpid=61
Here is ChemistryCentral: http://www.chemistrycentral.com/
Molecules appears to be one of the longer running journals of this type: http://www.mdpi.com/journal/molecules
Please support these open-access journals!
